Working for Just Youth

Staff Vacancies
We do not have any vacancies at the moment. However, we do often recruit qualified and trainee youthworkers. If you would like to send us your CV, we will keep it on file and contact you if a position becomes available.

GAP year volunteers
Our GAP year volunteers are a vital part of our ministry. Joining us for a year or two, they live in community here in Salford and help to deliver our programs to young people. We look for fluent speakers of English who are confident in sharing their faith and who have experience working with young people, energy and willingness to give anything a go. The leaflet below gives more information. Please give us a call on 0161 792 4195 or e-mail
jystaff@googlemail.com if you'd like to discuss it.

Occasional volunteers
If you'd be interested in working with us on an occasional basis, we'd love to have you. All skills are needed and welcome: working with young people (police checks are needed), administration, DIY and gardening, artistic skills, etc, etc. Please get in touch.

Welcome to Just Youth

About Just Youth

Just Youth is a Youth Ministry project in Salford established by the Spiritans (Holy Ghost Fathers) in 1998.   Our Mission is to work with young people especially, but not exclusively, through formal and informal activities so as to develop their spiritual, moral, mental, social and intellectual potential that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.

The Youth Ministry team comprises Spiritan priests, qualified youth workers, lay workers and young adult volunteers engaged in a gap year experience.  The Spiritan priests and volunteers live in community.

The aim of Just Youth is to build understanding, acceptance and challenge with the young people we serve in local Catholic schools, parishes and beyond; encouraging young people to engage in Christian spirituality and positive life choices.

Just Youth will do this by:-

  • Offering programmes to enhance and develop spiritual growth
  • Building active Christian community based on gospel values
  • Supporting schools through chaplaincy retreats and mission work
  • Supporting young people in school, family and parish
  • Exploring issues around justice and equality
  • Initiating and developing training in a range of personal and social skills
  • Developing leadership and peer ministry skills
  • Development through specialised outreach teams.  Outreach through the national initiative for youth development in sports spirituality
  • Continuing to support and supervise a gap year for volunteers
